The verdict

What we like

  • No annual fee for the primary card or additional cards
  • 1.5 points per $1 across several common everyday categories
  • Flexible Avion redemption choices beyond travel
  • Purchase Security and Extended Warranty coverage are included

Worth noting

  • RBC ION travel redemptions use a lower-value rate than many Avion Premium products

  • No emergency medical, trip cancellation, flight delay, baggage, or rental-car insurance
  • Interest can outweigh rewards when a balance is carried

Our detailed review

A practical reading of where the card earns, what the fee buys, and which limits matter.

🆓 No-Fee Earn

A no-fee everyday rewards card for people who want simple Avion points on groceries, transportation, and digital entertainment. Its appeal is low carrying cost and flexible redemptions, not premium travel value or broad insurance.

How the rewards work

Groceries, Gas receive the strongest estimated return at 1.5%. Purchases outside the accelerated categories earn an estimated 1.0%.

What the annual cost means

There is no annual fee to recover, which can make the card easier to keep for credit-history length or occasional use. Interest and other transaction fees can still apply.

Who it may suit

This card is most relevant for someone who spends consistently on groceries and gas and prefers to avoid a yearly fee.

What to examine before applying

Compare the purchase interest rate, foreign-transaction fee, approval requirements, reward limits, and insurance certificates. Pay particular attention to merchant-category rules because a store may not receive the reward rate its products appear to suggest.
